If you’ve been by the corner of lively Main and Brown in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale lately, you may have noticed some buzz around Old Town Tavern. And if you’re wondering, “Is the Old Town Tavern closing down?”—don’t worry. The answer is absolutely not.
In fact, it’s the opposite. Old Town Tavern is expanding—big time.
We’re sliding just 20 feet to the right and taking over the much larger space previously occupied by the Back Door. It’s a permanent move, with a bigger venue, two bar areas, and yes, live music every day. We’re bringing the same soul, drinks, music, and charm… just with more square footage and a fresh edge.

Why the Move? Blame the Bricks—Then Blame the Landlord
Let’s get real. The current building’s bones were cracking. It’s old. And we mean real old—too old to keep up with the crowds we’re pulling these days. On top of that, the landlord wasn’t renewing the lease, so staying put wasn’t even an option.
But here’s the good news: the building next door—the one that housed The Back Door—has everything we need. More space. More seating. Room to breathe, to dance, to rock out, and to serve you better.
This isn’t just a move. It’s an upgrade.
What’s Staying the Same?
If you’ve ever belted out a late-night tune here, sipped one of our famous drinks while tapping your boots to live music, or shared laughs with our bartenders, you can relax. None of that is changing.
We’re still the Old Town Tavern. We're just the new Old Town Tavern
Same name. Same owner. Same staff. Same cold drinks. Same live music every day. Same energy that makes us your favorite spot in Old Town.
The only thing we’re adding? Room for even more of it.
You’ll still find local artists playing intimate acoustic sets during the day, and full-size bands tearing up the new larger stage on weekends.
So… What’s New?
Oh, just a little something called 3,000 square feet of space—compared to our old 800 sq ft setup. We’re talking about:
Two bar areas (yes, TWO)
A big front patio with plenty of seating
A kitchen with a new, simple food menu (wings & pizza, anyone?)
A small acoustic stage for daily chill sets
A large band stage for the weekend warriors
And yes, the drinks aren’t changing. You’ll still get your go-to pours and cocktails just the way you like ‘em.
The hours? Staying the same. Parking? Still the same lot and street access as before. Just more space inside for more good times.
So, When’s This All Happening?
We’re working on the move now. The transition will be smooth, and the best part is that we’re not closing down at any point. That’s right. You’ll still be able to visit us in the old spot while we build out the new one next door.
Once we flip the switch and make the move official, we’ll throw a proper grand reopening bash. You won’t want to miss it.
We’ll keep you updated every step of the way on our website, Facebook, and email newsletter. Make sure you’re subscribed or following, so you don’t miss a single beat (or beer).
A Word from the Owner
Paul Mitchell—yep, the man behind the magic—has been dreaming of this kind of expansion for a while. And while the timing wasn’t his to choose, the opportunity to move into the Back Door space came at just the right moment.
“We’ve outgrown our little corner of Scottsdale,” Paul said. “This new space is going to let us serve more people, support more local musicians, and just keep doing what we love—only bigger.”
That’s the vision. More space, same heartbeat.
The Bottom Line
If you’re a longtime fan of the Old Town Tavern, we’ve got your back—and your barstool. If you’re new, there’s never been a better time to become a regular. We’re growing up, but not growing out. Everything you love is coming with us, and we’re making room for even more.
So grab your friends, raise a glass, and get ready for the next chapter. We’re not just moving. We’re leveling up.
See you just 20 feet away.
Excellent! Looking forward to many more happy times and great music at the new location.
